ABOUT US
Hope for the Future is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Community Development Corporation (CDC) founded in 1997. Initial outreach efforts have been directed to the Shaw, Stadium Armory and Adams Morgan neighborhoods in Washington, D.C.
Our Mission: To develop and implement education, health/nutrition awareness and social programs as well as assist other like-minded area groups dedicated to investing their time and talents in helping children and strengthening families.
Our Vision: To provide low to moderate income families alternatives to the traditional “street” bondages of educational failures, hunger and poor nutrition, child abuse, low self-esteem, unemployment and crime.
Hope for the Future’s objectives are simple and time tested – target the next generation by establishing:
1 – a respect for themselves
2 – a respect for their families and communities
3 – a respect for authority
We believe no parent wants or plans for their child to grow up addicted to drugs, be illiterate or a victim of crime. No parent wants to be unemployed and subjected to the largesse of the government or others. Yet in many areas of Washington, D.C. the jobless, poverty and illiteracy cycles have ravaged multiple generations. To reverse those effects and to impact the young will take a sustained effort on the part of many, all working towards a common goal.
Hope for the Future is one more resource in that effort.
